Headteacher's Welcome

I am extremely proud to welcome you as Headteacher of Langley Park School for Boys. We are a school which has a great tradition of turning out confident, articulate, intelligent and adaptable young people in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

At Langley Park School for Boys we believe in educating the whole child and we are ambitious for every child.

Our GCSE results continue to be strong year on year with outcomes consistently well above national average, and strong progress scores in relation to boys nationally. Our large co-educational Sixth Form offers fantastic opportunities and the outcomes for our students are excellent. Every year over 80% of our students take up places at University, with around a third of them gaining places at the Russell group universities. We also have a significant number of students who secure apprenticeships with a wide variety of employers.

Langley Park School for Boys will always be about much more than just the academic. We place equal value on our students’ commitment to enrichment activities and on our outdoor education programme. We believe firmly that skills such as leadership, creativity, and resilience, that our students will need to thrive in their future lives, should also be taught outside the classroom.

We enjoy enormous success in sport with rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics teams all reaching local and national finals in recent years. We also have exceptional talent in the Performing Arts, and our music, dance and drama departments put on a wide variety of musical and theatrical performances every year, taking full advantage of our wonderful Performance Hall.

All of these wonderful opportunities are presented in a fantastic modern building by a team of exceptionally talented and dedicated teachers and support staff, who like our students, are always prepared to go the extra mile.

Our students also get the opportunity to take part in numerous outdoor education activities with Borrowdale Camp in the Lake District, and the Dover Camp for all students in year 9 being an annual feature of the school calendar. Students also all have a chance to visit our outdoor education centre in Youlgreave in the Peak district.

We are a diverse community and welcome students from a many different backgrounds and with different educational needs. We celebrate our diversity and learn from each other, valuing each student as unique and special. We strive to support all our students achieve their very best.

I look forward to meeting you when you visit the school, and I wish your sons and daughters every success and happiness in their time with us.
