LPSB Screen-Free Day - Friday 5th February 2021

We are very proud of LPSB students and how well they have adapted to their online learning this year. They have shown resilience, diligence and commitment to their studies at a very challenging time. We also recognise that the increased screen time required for remote learning can have a big impact on students' physical and mental wellbeing. Many schools are now building in time for students to take a break from their screens.

As part of Children's Mental Health Week which takes place next week from 1^st to 7^th February, we will be holding a screen-free day on Friday 5th February. Online lessons will not take place on this day and students will have the opportunity to spend a day enjoying screen-free activities. This is an opportunity to recognise the hard work of LPSB students this year so far and to give them the chance to enjoy some activities away from the screen. 

On the letter below you will find some examples of Screen-Free Activities your son or daughter may like to do. Our Heads of Department have also suggested some Challenge Tasks for students to complete. Some tasks require students to download a helpsheet online to complete the activity – we would suggest that they do this in advance of the day.

Please note that students must continue to follow the current guidance around Covid-19 during the Screen-Free Day. Some of the tasks listed suggest that students go outside. This should only be done as part of their daily exercise and it is imperative that students do not meet others outside of their household to complete the tasks. Thank you in advance for ensuring that your son or daughter continues to act in line with government guidance and does not bring the school into disrepute.

Please do send us images of what your son or daughter has done during Screen-Free Day so that we can celebrate students’ enjoyment of the day. All images should be sent to mwillis@lpsb.org.uk. Please indicate in your email if you would be happy for your image to be shared on social media and the school newsletter.

Please note that if your son or daughter attends the Key Worker provision, this will continue in school as normal. Students will have a mixture of outside play and opportunities to catch up on missed work.

We hope your son / daughter enjoys this opportunity to take a break from their screen and get involved in a wide range of activities.
